Fasting is hard. But is it effective? In this article, we introduce you the precautions for fasting and some recommended short term fasting methods, as well as some drinks to take during fasting. Give it a try if you want to reset your tired gastrointestinal tract and aim to be clean from inside the body.
What are the effects of fasting?
Activate metabolic enzymes
For dieting, the usage of “enzyme” is greatly related. They plays a role in digestion, absorption, metabolism, excretion, etc.
If your daily diet give great burden on digestive enzymes and further slows down the functions of metabolic enzymes, your body becomes deficient in enzymes. That will eventually cause you to gain weight.
Also, excessive intake of high GI foods and food additives results in wasted digestive enzymes. And the metabolic enzymes will not turn around.
Since the digestive enzyme is paused by fasting, the digestive enzyme can be preserved if the dietary enzyme is consciously taken, and the metabolic enzyme is excreted to activate the metabolism. Not only do you lose weight because you don’t eat, but during the fasting period, your body becomes full of enzymes, which helps build a lean body.
Gastrointestinal rest and detoxification
You may think fasting is mostly going on diet, but the largest effect of fasting is detox. In our daily life, we consume a lot of animal protein, sugar, caffeine and other substances. Without our knowledge, they impose a huge burden on our digestive system. Though convenient, processed foods which contain a lot of additives consume much time and energy to digest.
However, in addition to these digestions, every day, we need to excrete waste products and harmful substances in the body.
If you leave food at 37 degrees outside like in the summer, it will rot and become poisonous. That’s why the body prioritize digesting and give energy to that. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, in additional, sugar, coffee, wine and alcohol… the gastrointestinal has no time to rest.
Fasting is a great opportunity to create some spare time for the gastrointestinal to take some rest.
Notes on fasting
Those whose body are not suitable for fasting
“Weak body” doesn’t need fasting!
Characteristics of “weak body”
- Has no glossy hair
- Sweat a lot. Eyes, face and body tend to swell
- Weak stomach, prone to gastritis, etc…
We do not recommend fasting to people whose body are already too weak, who are easily lethargic and easily catch a cold. They are chronically lacking in “energy”.
The most important role of the stomach is to take in energy. People with a weak physical constitution have weak gastrointestinal tracts and weak digestion. They can lose “energy” if being hungry for a long time.
Moreover, when doing fasting, we won’t get in any nutrition, we won’t be producing a lot of energy. We won’t be generating much body heat, and possibly as a result, it will worsen our metabolism if kept for a long time.
At first, try for half-day to one-day fasting!
Start half-day fast from after dinner
We recommend that you start your half-day fasting after the dinner to reduce gastrointestinal stress. For example, if you can finish dinner at 7 pm, after 17 hours, it will be lunch time of the next day. The time when you feel hungry will mostly be the time you are sleeping. It’s simple as you just need to skip breakfast the next morning.
Even if we are going on fasting, it is important for our vital health to intake enough water and salt. If you feel too hungry, take some seasonal vegetables and fruits. You can use some smoothie, but refrain from caffeine drinks.
After a half-day fast, we would like to come back with a gastrointestinal friendly porridge, but since it is difficult if we are going out, it is recommended to use simple foods, avoid meat and oil that are burdensome for digestion. Rice, natto and soup are very good.
Doing one-day fast with enzyme drink
Enzyme drinks are very good for women

For lunch, we can take one cup with yogurt. For dinner, also one cup. It looks like wine!
